What to do: Matheran is a small, cool and calm hill station near Mumbai. There are 7 cliff-point to visit, zip-lining, horse riding, trekking, cart-pulling are some of the activities that can be enjoyed at a fairly reasonable rate from Rs.100 – Rs.150. You can enjoy the scenery and sunset view from such a good height. You can also book rooms and stay overnight if want to.
Where to eat: There are plenty of restaurants serving local cuisine and other fast-food since it’s a popular tourist spot although the prices are slightly high. So, it is suggested to carry snacks and water bottle and spend only on lunch.
How to reach from the main city: Take local Train till Neral (Khopoli or Karjat bound trains), then you can either take a cab from Neral to Aman Lodge(Rs.60-80, 15-20 min) per person + Horse Cart (Rs.100/per person) or Walk to Matheran from Aman Lodge. There are also toy trains directly from Neral to Matheran at fixed hours (Rs.60/person, 60 min)
Good for: Couples as the weather is really pleasing but friends in small or large groups can also enjoy the beauty and adventure.
Time to spend: Takes approximately an entire day to see all the points and at the end of the day one really comes back relaxed and rejuvenated.
Anything else: Rs. 100/per person entry fee is charged at Aman Lodge. Also, lots of naughty monkeys are there so it is advised to take care of your belongings when around them.
