Jaipur and its magnificent palaces

Jaipur is known as the Pink City, as most of the buildings in Old Jaipur are pink in color.  It was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amer and was planned as per the laws of Vastu Shastra.

Best time to visit: From October to March.

How to Reach:

  • This city is connected to all Big Cities by Buses and Trains. You can easily reach there. Transport facilities are available at decent rates.
  • National and international flights are also available. Jaipur airport is located in Sanganer about 13 km from Jaipur city. City buses are available from Jaipur airport.

Budget: INR 800-1000 per day (including Delicious food)

Climate: Mostly warm with intermittent clouds during daytime.

Local Transport:

Autos are available at cheaper rates. Fare varies depending on the distance. Metro facility is also available in some parts of Jaipur.

Accommodation Facilities:

You can get many hotels near the city palace. Some good ones are Hotel Hayyat Rabbni, Hotel Gauri and Fabhotel Casttle. You can get a room at a tariff of Rs. 600 per day. These are the best and cheapest hotels available in Jaipur. You can take autos from bus stand or railway station to reach here. Estimated fare would be INR 60-80.

Place to visit:

On the first day you can visit this palace first. It is actually a Palace Complex including Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal and many other buildings. Mukut Mahal, Maharani’s Mahal, Shri Gobind Dev Temple and City Palace Museum are the source of attraction for visitors. You can take autos from bus stand or railway station to reach there. Estimated fare is INR 60-80. Usually it takes 3-4 hours to see the whole complex.

After City Palace you can visit this place on day one of your visit. This specific name is given to it because it has a high wall which has many small sized windows. This palace is 50 feet high, in the shape of Pyramid and it is a five-floored building. The front view of this palace is like a honeycomb web of beehives with small windows and curved grills. Hawa Mahal is just at a distance of 800m from City Palace. This visit of yours will take around two hours.

You can visit Jantar Mantar on the second Day of your visit. It has a collection of about 19 architectural and astronomical instruments. Its main attraction is the World’s largest stone, Sundial. These instruments are used for many purposes like for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking locations off major stars as the earth revolves around sun. They have been built huge in size so as to get the results with enough accuracy. Jantar Mantar is located at a distance of just 750 m from Hawa Mahal. You can take an auto but I suggest you to walk, enjoying the beautiful heritage sites all around. It takes around 2-3 hours to move around the whole place.

Jal Mahal

JAL MAHAL JaipurAfter Jantar Mantar, you can visit Jal Mahal. This gorgeous palace is located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. It was built in Mughal and Rajput style of architecture. It is a 5-floor building out of which four floors always remain underwater and only the top floor is visible from outside. This majestic beauty is the most photographed monument of Jaipur. There are many small shops outside Jal Mahal where you can purchase souvenirs related to the Rajasthan culture. You can also enjoy camel ride here. You can take auto or taxi from Jantar Mantar for Jal Mahal with fare of Rs.80-100. Usually people spend around 1-2 hours here.

Birla Temple

Birla-Mandir-JaipurIn the evening of your second day of visit, you can come to Birla Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It has three domes which represents the three different approaches to the religion. The main attention is the Idol of Lakshmi and Narayan made out of single piece of white marble. That’s why it is also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple. The light decoration of this temple at the prayer time is very fascinating. City buses are available from Jal Mahal to Birla Temple easily. It takes 1 hour to see this Temple.

What and Where to eat in Jaipur:

  • The most famous spot to eat in Jaipur is Chokhi Dhani. You will have to take a private taxi to reach here with an estimated fare of around 100-120.
  • Other famous delicacies of Jaipur are ‘dal bati churma’, ‘ghever’ and ‘laal maas’. You can enjoy these food at any restaurant of Jaipur.
