Local Transport in Chandigarh:
City buses are available at cheaper rates. Fare varies from Rs. 5-20 depending on the distance. Autos and taxis like UBER, OLA are also available at normal rates.
Place to visit:
Rock Garden: A beautiful sculpture garden in which all the creations are made from waste material like bottles, bangles, electrical waste, tiles etc. The garden is developed by a government official Mr. Nek Chand who started it in his spare time. Chand’s work was illegal, but he was able to hide it for 18 years before it was discovered by the authorities in 1975. The garden is spread over a land of about 40 acres. The garden is visited by more than 12 million visitors till now. City buses are available from bus stand and railway station for this place.

Sukhna Lake: It is a great reservoir in the foothills of Himalayas. It is an inseparable part of Chandigarh City. The best thing about Sukhna is, sitting along the lake side and watch the Sunrise. People visit here specially for Photography and jogging. Boating, kayaking and water skiing can be enjoyed throughout the year. Garden of Silence is an another attraction of Sukhna Lake. An idol of Lord Buddha is present in the middle of this garden in the meditation pose. Sukhna Lake is present at just 1 km away from the Rovk Garden. Autos are available outside Rock Garden with a fare of just Rs. 10.

Open Hand Monument : It is a symbolic structure located in the Capital Complex, Chandigarh. It is the largest example of Le Corbusier’s structures, about 26 meters in height and weighs more than 50 tons and was designed to rotate with wind. Capital Complex is also a world heritage site. This design is the symbol of humanity unarmed, fearless and spiritually receptive. Autos are available from Sukhna Lake for Rs. 20.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden: It is the Asia’s largest Rose Garden spread over 30 acres. The garden has not only flowers but also many trees which has great medicinal values. It has many curved lawns where you can sit, and surrounding them are 50000 bushes of roses of 1600 different species. Various contests like of photography, gardening, landscaping organized here. One can take auto from Capital Complex to reach Rock Garden. Fare varies from Rs. 10-20.

Japanese Garden: It is a park based on the Japanese theme and is built on 13 acres of land. The park has Buddha idol, Water falls, Meditation Centre, Golden Bamboos. Each and every part of the garden is given a unique Japanese touch. The park has two phases connected by a very beautiful underground tunnel. Walls of the tunnel are decorated with beautiful pictures related to the Japanese culture. Taxis are available from Rose Garden with a fare estimate of Rs. 60-80.

Chandigarh has many famous food points like Chinese Food Market, Stuci, BnB, Elante Food Court, Aroma.
